We all quote authors, thinkers, and experts.

Very few of us ever work on becoming quotable ourselves.

——

Being quotable isn’t about sounding smart.

It’s about creating moments in our writing or presentations that distill our thinking into a few sentences sharp enough to stand on their own.

These are passages that can live outside context, detached from supporting arguments, and still carry weight, even when they’re the only lines people repeat.

I call these passages quotable insights.

Quotable insights are sentences intentionally crafted to represent the edge of our unique perspective.

They work like business cards for our best ideas, portable samples of our knowledge that open the door to deeper conversations and new opportunities.

Quotability sharpens our thinking.

Shaping ideas into quotable insights clarifies what we know and believe, and gives us the confidence to share our unique perspective with impact.

Quotability amplifies influence.

When an insight captures a thought or feeling with real precision, it travels through conversations, into meetings, and across networks.

Quotability sparks change.

A single insight can inspire action. It can shift how people think, how they talk, and sometimes even how they lead.

As artificial intelligence turns expertise into commodity, quotability may be the sharpest edge our unique perspective can have.

Quotability is the craft of turning ideas into influence

Every edition of the newsletter Quotable Edge, I unpack one thought across 3 levels of impact:

A little more about me

My husband’s work moves him around every few years (no, he isn’t a spy). For that reason, I had the opportunity to live in eight countries. My favorites were Japan and the UK. We are currently in Kansas City, USA.

I’m originally from Brazil, and I couldn’t care less about soccer.
